The real arithmetic
Nine seats are not eight plus one.
The difference between a seven-seat van and an eight-seat one is not a detail: if there are eight of you, the first forces you into two cars. And luggage counts as much as people — a vehicle approved for eight does not necessarily have room for eight suitcases.
We ask for people and cases
They are two different numbers and we need both. Eight people with one bag each and eight people with skis are two journeys that do not fit the same vehicle.
You face one another
In the van the seats face each other: you talk, you work, you finish a conversation before you arrive. Split across two cars, the group breaks and half the conversation is lost.
Above nine, two vehicles together
